Steven Barratt is the founder of Save Funeral Costs™ (SFC), an independent advice platform launched in 2020 to help families across the UK find affordable but dignified funeral options.

After helping arrange a relative's funeral, he was shocked by the high costs and then discovered a local undertaker offering a near-identical service for almost half the price. That experience inspired him to write the Save Funeral Costs book, now in its second edition, and to create a trusted resource for others facing similar pressures.

Born in London in 1964, Steven has worked as a sole trader focusing on clear, straightforward language that make difficult subjects such as bereavement easier to understand. His work is shaped by real-life insight, a desire to ease emotional strain, and a commitment to transparency.

The SFC platform remains fully independent, offering access to low-cost undertakers, headstones, urns, funeral packages, and financial support options, all without sponsorships or paid listings. The blog offers advice for many funeral related issues. At its heart, Steven's work is about preserving dignity, offering clarity, supporting families and individuals during one of life's most vulnerable times.
