Aura’s five-star and family-run direct cremation services have options to suit all budgets and circumstances.
A direct cremation is a simple, unattended cremation with no service or attendees.
The person who has died is collected from their resting place and cared for by our team of compassionate experts. The cremation takes place privately, and the ashes are later returned to the family to store or scatter as per their wishes.
Starting at less than half of today’s average funeral cost*, Aura’s direct cremations offer a simple and affordable alternative to traditional funerals, without compromising on quality or care.
*Source: Sunlife 2024 Cost of Dying Report, stating the average cost of a funeral at £4,141.
Every family in Aura’s care will be supported by our wonderful Angel team. They are a caring group of industry experts, with many years of funeral-arranging experience between them. It’s their passion to devote themselves to each family, and to make sure that they all get the funeral they wish for.

Once the death has been verified, we will make arrangements to bring them into care as soon as possible.
The death will need to be registered and there will be a few legal forms to complete before the cremation can occur.

A direct cremation is an increasingly popular, more affordable alternative to a traditional funeral. There are usually no mourners present; we bring the person who has died to our mortuary facilities from where they passed away. And then, when it’s time, we bring them to the crematorium where they are cremated.
A direct cremation is usually a lot cheaper than a traditional option. That’s because it doesn’t include expensive formalities like a hearse or floral tributes. It also gives people an alternative to tradition, if that’s not something they would be comfortable with. It can also be less stressful to arrange.
With Aura, you absolutely can. Direct cremations usually proceed without mourners, but we have two different attended direct cremation services to choose from – ‘Wonderfully Imagined: Intimate’, and ‘Attended’. Our ‘Intimate’ option allows up to 15 close friends and family to attend a short service. We also have an ‘Attended’ option: as many guests as can be accommodated by the crematorium can attend a service lasting for up to 45 minutes.
Of course we can. All you need to do is let your existing funeral director know that you’d like us to take care of you. Just make sure to settle any remaining fees you might owe them, and then we can get straight to work on bringing your loved one into our care.
You have a choice about what happens with the ashes after cremation. We can either hand-deliver them to your door in a durable scatter-tube. This means that they are ready to be released at a location dear to your loved one. Or we can simply scatter them on your behalf at the crematorium’s own garden of remembrance – it’s up to you.
If you would like to arrange a viewing at a Chapel of Rest, we may be able to help. If this is important to you, please do not hesitate to give our team a call and we can discuss the options with you.
